Between 15 May and 31 August 2025, Radio Capsa FM took part in the third phase of the Maghreb Radio Network, which brings community radios from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria together around shared content. Committed to producing four pieces, the station ended up broadcasting twelve programmes: four Tunisian and eight Maghreb co-productions on artificial intelligence, climate, equality and local development, totalling more than 25,000 views on Facebook.

Context

The Maghreb Radio Network, the "Strengthening Community Radios" programme run by ERIM and funded by NED, supports community radios in Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. Its third phase focused on co-production: stations from several countries working together on shared topics, with experts providing mentoring and coordination. The aim was to give citizens reliable, local information on issues that cut across the whole Maghreb, from digital change to climate and equality. Radio Capsa FM had committed to producing four pieces: two with a Tunisian station and two with stations from another country.

Objectives

  1. 01Improve citizens' access to reliable, local information.
  2. 02Produce shared content between network stations on six themes: media and digital change, fundamental freedoms, local development, gender equality, climate change and violence in schools.
  3. 03Strengthen community radios through mentoring and the exchange of know-how between partners from three countries.

What changed

  • Twelve programmes were broadcast, three times the four pieces required by the contract.
  • Each Tunisian co-production drew between 2,245 and 3,224 views, and each Maghreb co-production between 1,146 and 2,289 views.
  • Most of the audience came from Gafsa, with a significant audience in Morocco, France and Algeria; 25–34-year-olds were the largest group, except for the programme on school violence, followed mainly by 35–44-year-olds.
  • Content combining a topical subject with an attractive visual presentation performed best, and social and environmental topics held the audience's attention better.
  • The experts' coordination made it possible to deliver the national and Maghreb episodes on time and to a good standard, while sharing know-how with partners from three countries.
