From August to October 2025, with support from the Qudurat programme managed by Hivos, the association secured the infrastructure of Radio Capsa FM in Gafsa, which until then relied on a single old computer with no backups at all. New equipment, an archive server now holding more than 7 TB of archives, a hardened capsa.tn website and cybersecurity training for ten team members, which ended with the adoption of an internal digital-security and crisis-response strategy.

Context

Radio Capsa FM is based in a marginalised neighbourhood of Gafsa. All of its work relied on a single old computer, used for broadcasting, editing and administration alike: one breakdown would have been enough to bring everything to a halt. With no backup system, years of archives were at risk. The capsa.tn website suffered repeated cyberattacks, power cuts were damaging the equipment, the premises were not protected against break-ins, and the team had never been trained in digital security.

Objectives

  1. 01Strengthen digital security: secure equipment, data protection, NAS-based archiving and a hardened website.
  2. 02Modernise the production and administration infrastructure and protect it from power cuts and voltage fluctuations.
  3. 03Improve the physical security of the premises.
  4. 04Train the team in cybersecurity and adopt an internal digital-security and crisis-response strategy.

What we did

  1. 24 May 2025Project concept note drafted, later annexed to the contract
  2. 1 August 2025Contract signed with Hivos and project launch
  3. August – October 2025Purchase and installation of two computers, a voltage regulator with UPS, a video surveillance system and a printer
  4. August – October 2025NAS server set up and more than 7 TB of archives backed up, delayed by several weeks after a disk arrived faulty
  5. August – October 2025Audit and hardening of capsa.tn: firewall, encryption, stronger authentication and full backups
  6. September – October 2025Internal monitoring and evaluation by the coordinator and the board
  7. 17–19 October 2025Three-day cybersecurity training for ten team members and adoption of an internal digital-security strategy
  8. 30 October 2025End of the contract period
  9. 6 November 2025Final narrative and financial reports submitted to Hivos

Results

7+ TBof audio, video and administrative archives backed up on the NAS server
10team members trained in cybersecurity
3days of training, 17 to 19 October 2025

What changed

  • The radio no longer depends on a single computer: production is faster and broadcasting more stable.
  • More than 7 TB of archives built up over the years are backed up, organised and accessible to the team, with AI tools helping to index them.
  • The capsa.tn website is stable again and protected against attacks.
  • The equipment is protected against power cuts, and the premises against theft.
  • The team now has basic digital-security skills and a crisis-response procedure.
